Activities for Adults

Alongside our productions in the theatre, we offer a range of activities for adults including play readings, theatre tours, workshops and our Watermill Book Club, featuring well-known authors. All are welcome to get involved and find out what goes on behind the scenes.

THE WATERMILL SCRATCH CHOIR
Rehearsals 10.00am – 6.00pm, performance at 7.30pm

Our fantastically popular scratch choir is back, once again led by the brilliant conductor, Chris de Souza. This is a chance to spend the day with a group of like-minded people learning the songs, and then perform them in the evening in our beautiful tithe barn. Music is provided and there are no auditions. Places are open to anyone over the age of 14 years.

Opera Choruses
A chance to have a go at the big opera greats such as Nabucco (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) and Madame Butterfly (Humming Chorus).

Rodgers & Hammerstein
Hits from brilliant musicals such as Carousel, South Pacific, Oklahoma, and The Sound of Music.

ENCORE!
A drama group for older people no longer in full-time work.

Mondays during term time   2pm – 3pm

These weekly sessions offer the chance to hone your acting skills, get together with like-minded people and share your passion for drama. An opportunity to learn more about characterisation, voice control, improvisation and working with scripts.

Tea and coffee will be available after the sessions
Suitable for both keen beginners and the more experienced.

THEATRE TOURS
If you’re interested in what goes on behind the scenes, then come along to one of our backstage tours where you’ll get to meet the staff, see where the actors prepare and visit the old and new buildings that make up The Watermill.

Tours will take place on the following afternoons starting at 12.30pm
Thursday 15th March – Lettice and Lovage
Thursday 26th April – Love on the Tracks
Saturday 2 June – Of Mice and Men
Saturday 7 July – Ben-Hur

Price includes a tour of the theatre, one course meal with coffee and a ticket for that day’s matinee performance. Alternatively, a tour of the theatre and one course meal with coffee costs £14 per person.
