Outreach News - August 2011

This month it’s all about the Holiday Courses: our Play in a Week is already underway with over 30 enthusiastic actors creating a new play for the end of the week. Our Academy course takes talented older actors through their paces and helps with applications to drama school, and our Musical in a Week participants will be working with the actor Robin Colyer (as seen in our summer musical, RadioTimes) and the musician Carl Calow to create a new musical masterpiece.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve received funding from West Berkshire Council for two exciting projects to start in the Autumn. Our Interview Skills project will provide free training to unemployed people in Newbury in the art of interviewing successfully for jobs, in a project we’re running in partnership with Careers Springboard West Berkshire. And we’ll be working with elderly residents from A2Dominion Housing Association in Newbury and Thatcham on a memory project involving the talented members of our Associate Youth Theatre. We’ll be announcing more details about both these projects in September.

Meanwhile booking has opened for the Scratch Choirs in the Autumn (places go so fast on these, many apologies if you are unlucky) and for our half term courses. And don’t forget if you’re a local actor you can join our Actors Forum – do give us a call or send an email if you’re interested. (Beth on 01635 570927).
