Supporting Your Visit
Theatre Tours can be arranged for small groups.
Education packs can be downloaded for free (please go to the Education Packs page).
Workshops to support your visit: for each production in our theatre we provide a practical workshop introducing students to the play, either preparing them for their visit or developing their response afterwards. The workshop will explore the main themes of the production, look at the acting techniques used in rehearsal, and provide insights into the creative process behind the scenes.
We are currently offering introductory workshops to THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS.
Workshop Menu
These Workshops are available all year round.
DRAMA (Speaking and Listening at KS 1/2/3)
Our trained actors work with pupils to develop their improvisation and characterisation skills. Using lots of fun techniques and drama games we aim to inspire the children with confidence in their own imagination. We can also help give a boost to your school production using our tried-and-tested rehearsal techniques.
PLAY IN A DAY (Speaking and Listening at KS2/3)
A variation of our famous ‘Play in a Week’ holiday courses. Our trained actors work with the children to create their own short plays, finishing with a short performance by the children at the end of the day. Plays can be themed, for example if you want to enliven a history workshop (see below).
HISTORY (KS2/3)
Using drama games and role play we will bring your history lesson to life, helping the children to imagine the everyday lives of people from different times. You can choose from THE ROMANS, THE EGYPTIANS, THE TUDORS, VICTORIAN BRITAIN, THE SECOND WORLD WAR, or ANCIENT GREECE, or if you have a different period, please feel free to let us know. This workshop can also take the form of a ‘Play in a Day’ (see above).
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL SKILLS (PSHE at KS1 and KS2)
These workshops will employ drama games and techniques to encourage collaboration and develop personal skills, as well as building individual self-confidence. Using role play and forum theatre we look at how our actions affect other people, and help to develop the children’s empathic skills.
We can also do a specific PEER PRESSURE workshop with Year 6 students about to go to Secondary School, looking at the kind of choices young people are faced with, and exploring their options.
GOT YOUR OWN IDEAS?
If the workshops on offer above don’t take your fancy or you’d like to talk about activities with Reception children, we also provide bespoke workshops and projects on pretty much any aspect of drama or theatre tailored to your requirements. Please just give us a call for an informal chat about what you’d like.
