Fourth Wall

Thu 08 Sep 2022 - Thu 13 Oct 2022

Our Fourth Wall project invites adults with learning disabilities to explore a play. Together we learn about the characters and storyline of the play, go to watch the production together and create our own version.

In theatre the ‘fourth wall’ is the invisible barrier between the stage and the audience. Every season at The Watermill, we ‘break the fourth wall’ of a Watermill production. We choose a production that is well-known and challenging.

Previously we have explored, Romeo + Juliet, Frankenstein and The Importance of Being Earnest.

This year we will be exploring Othello. Othello is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is a story about love, jealousy, and lies. This production will be adapted by The Watermill Ensemble and will have live music throughout.

Familiarisation Visits and support: For many of us, trying something new, with new people, in a new place, can be daunting. Our familiarisation visits are a chance to meet the group facilitator, and have a short tour of the space and facilities with us. If you would like to book a visit, please contact us.

Please note that we will be working as a group and are not able to guarantee one-to-one support for participants. If this would be important to you, you are welcome to bring someone to support you; just let us know.

If you have any questions or ideas, please email projects@watermill.org.uk

We look forward to meeting you soon!
