The Watermill Theatre and Restaurant's September Newsletter

Rehearsals are underway for our production of the award-winning adaptation of the much-loved Ealing comedy. There are plenty of laughs and great moments of slapstick to be enjoyed. If you haven’t yet met the cast you can do so here.

Lee Lyford is directing The Ladykillers:

'Graham Linehan's stage adaptation of The Ladykillers is one of those rare things in film to stage transfers; it may even be better than the original. It is certainly more laugh out loud funny and the characters are richer; it works perfectly for theatre.'

Thu 24 September to Sat 31 October

Tickets £26.50 to £15

You may be able to help us recreate Mrs Wilberforce’s house, which has a character all of its own. The Stage Management team are looking for a wind-up, working gramophone to borrow or have donated. Colour not important. (See left)

If you can help, please email stagemanagement@watermill.org.uk

Horsey Lightly (22 October) and Saica Pack (12 October) have each kindly sponsored a performance of The Ladykillers. Both companies will entertain invited guests before the show and during the interval and will have a presence around the theatre. We are grateful to them for their support which enables us to continue to stage high-quality theatre.

Waterloo – The battle which defined a century

‘In 1815 two men faced off in a muddy field in Belgium. Wellington, with his British and Allied army, and Napoleon with his French Imperial Guard. One decisive battle could end 20 years of bloody conflict on the continent. It was a showdown between two of history’s military giants. They were the same age, formidable strategists and had a string of victories behind them.’

In the bicentennial year of the Battle of Waterloo, General Sir Richard Shirreff brings a professional soldier’s perspective to the momentous events of the Waterloo campaign in An Audience With… on Tue 6 October at 2pm.
