A bank
robbery. A coffin. Very dubious morals…
Following five star reviews and a sell-out run at London’s Park Theatre, Joe Orton’s
darkly comic masterpiece Loot is performed uncensored for the very first time. Originally
falling foul of the censor’s pen, elements of the original script were judged
too outrageous and banned by the Lord Chamberlain before its premiere over
fifty years ago. Directed by Michael Fentiman, this new production places the
original text at the heart of the action.
Uproarious slapstick meets
dubious morals as two young friends stash the proceeds of a bank robbery in an
occupied coffin, attempting to hide their spoils from the attentions of a psychopathic
policeman, a gold-digging nurse and a grieving widower.

Monday 18 to Saturday 23 September THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY By Oscar Wilde Adapted by Phoebe Eclair-Powell |
In a
world where beauty and appearance is at the forefront of everyday life, this
playful retelling of Wilde’s classic gothic tale is infused with charm and
danger. As Dorian grapples with a fear of growing old, the chance to lead a
hedonistic double life in exchange for ageless beauty proves too tempting. As events spiral out of Dorian’s control, the story
that follows is one of vanity, corrupted innocence and betrayal. An all-female
cast of three actors bring The Picture of Dorian Gray
to life in this fast-paced 75 minute production directed by Owen Horsley. |
Tickets £12.50 to £7.50
£10 tickets for 16-25s (call the box office to book on 01635 46044)
