Theatre in education touring

The Watermill has a reputation for high quality Theatre in Education touring, our most recent school tour A Mini Midsummer Night's Dream (2019) toured to local secondary schools and rural venues.

'We will be happy to recommend you to other schools but might prefer to keep your excellence a secret if you become too popular!' Rory Darling, Head of Drama, Ludgrove School

Federation of rural primary schools project

This extraordinary biennial project involves working with six small rural primary schools to create a production, performed on The Watermill’s own stage, involving some 120 pupils. The project has been running for fifteen years.

"That was so good! I don't want it to end!" (Megan, aged 11yrs)

"It was a fantastic opportunity for our children and one that they will remember for a very long time." (Parent)

"I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you from everyone here.... The children have done nothing but rave about it ever since!" (Teacher)

The Excel Project
Every two years The Watermill works with twelve students from Trinity School supporting them to write a play, which is then rehearsed and created with a professional team. The final production is performed at Trinity School by over 90 pupils from six local primary schools.

'Children who would not normally have this opportunity have blossomed into more confident children.' Whitelands Park Primary School teacher

Education and Business partnership workshops
The Education & Business Partnership’s Take a Chance programme is designed to stimulate the confidence and business skills of GCSE students to inspire them to think about their future careers.
