SUNDAY SESSIONS - BASIN STREET BRAWLERS

Sun 25 Mar 2018

Sunday 25 March at 3pm

This band of master musicians swing and stomp their way through the most beautiful melodies and raucous rags of the 1920s and 1930s ‘with all the energy and assurance of a bunch of Kansas City veterans’ (The Sunday Times). Their debut record ‘It’s Tight Like That’ has garnered critical acclaim, with reviews describing them as ‘world class’ (BBC).

Their repertoire features the finest work of the master songwriters of the era, including Cole Porter, Hoagy Carmichael and George Gershwin, delivered in a unique and powerful style.

The ensemble is led by trumpet player and singer Peter Horsfall from Kansas Smitty’s Big Four, who played at The Watermill in February 2017.

The Basin Street Brawlers have headlined the London Swing Festival and regularly perform at the UK’s most prestigious jazz and chamber music venues, including Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar Room, the Pizza Express Jazz Club and the Holywell Music Room.
