Written and directed by Heidi Bird

Wed 12 Jul 2017 - Sat 15 Jul 2017

Beside the river Lambourn, in the sleepy hamlet of Bagnor, a mill has stood for hundreds of years. In a heart-warming and turbulent tale of family, friendship and hope, discover the hidden history of the beautiful building that is now The Watermill Theatre.

It’s 1767, the milling trade is at its peak in the town of Newbury and people flock from around the local area to sell their wares. Hard-working Mr Andrews and his family live happily in a flourishing mill surrounded by green fields, ducks and peaceful surroundings. But on one fateful day, everything changes when the family are torn apart by a terrible accident and Mary, the miller’s daughter, finds herself alone.

Join Mary for a gripping story that spans hundreds of years and see the transformation of the old mill from family home to thriving theatre.

To celebrate The Watermill’s 50th anniversary year, over a hundred children from five local village primary schools will come together in this remarkable project to perform a brand new play written especially for them.

The Sackler Trust are the Principal Supporter of The Watermill's Core Education and Outreach Programme.
