THE WINTER'S TALE

“...an evening that delights the heart as much as it stimulates the mind… A joy to behold.” The Telegraph
By William Shakespeare

Edward Hall returned to The Watermill in January of this year to create yet another astonishing Shakespeare piece with his remarkable all-male company. This time it was the turn of one of the later plays.

The last production, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, toured nationally and internationally before enjoying a run at the Comedy Theatre in London and at the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York. The Winter's Tale will follow a similar path, opening in New York in November.

A man consumed by an inexplicable jealousy destroys everything around him, his family, his kingdom and himself. Wracked by guilt, he sets off a chain reaction of events leading to a miraculous ending and the chance for reconciliation. A tragic fairy story, mysterious yet filled with humour and with a magical ending full of hope.
