British Sign Integrated Performances

British Sign Language performances at The Watermill are often sign integrated. This means that the sign performers are onstage translating alongside the actors. 

Our sign integrated performances at The Watermill have been pioneering an approach that puts signing at the heart of the action. With sign performers joining the actors on stage this means that BSL is embedded into the performance so audiences don’t have to pick between following the action or the language.

Deaf creatives work closely with the sign performers, to support the translation and integration process as BSL Consultants. We're always happy for new deaf professionals to get in touch. Just email lixi@watermill.org.uk
