About Youth Theatre - Act 4 (school years 10-11)

Youth theatre sessions for young people aged 14-16 who are keen to have fun with like-minded young people and learn more in-depth theatre-making and performing techniques.

These sessions will focus on a wide variety of theatre styles that may include scriptwork, physical theatre, creating their own plays or directing each other. As well as developing theatre skills, our groups are a great way to develop confidence and take time out of an otherwise busy life to let go and have fun!

At the end of the Autumn Term, each group will work towards an end of term sharing on the final session of the term (week commencing 8 Dec).

Young people who take part in our regular sessions will also be invited to apply for our Youth Ensemble production in the Spring. Find out more about our Youth Ensemble here.

All about Youth Theatre

What happens in a Youth Theatre session?

Each session is bespoke, but they follow a similar schedule each week.

We check in with everyone in the group and share news from our week.

We warm up and play drama skills-based games.

We then have a main activity (related to the overall theme of the term).

And then we wrap up and conclude.

What do I need to bring?

Please wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and will keep you covered during physical activity. Bring water in a clearly labelled or colourful bottle. If you have any medication you may need to take, please bring it in a clearly labelled bag and ensure a member of the team is aware (either by providing details in the above form or by contacting the team prior to the session).

Do I need to have any previous experience?

No, our sessions are bespoke to the group we are working with, and we offer a very supportive environment.  Our Youth Theatre focuses on individual development, nurturing our young people to take their next step - whether that's a tip-toe or a giant leap.

Can you support my access need?

We want all of our activities to be as open, comfortable and inclusive as possible, so we’re always happy to chat about specific access needs to make your or their experience as smooth as possible (For example, arranging a BSL interpreter, ear defenders, or movement breaks). You are welcome to try any activity you like!

We also run some specialist activities with support built in. Find out more here.
