News Story
We spoke to the cast of Swallows & Amazons, our Youth Ensemble.
We love to hear directly from the young performers bringing fresh energy and creativity to the stage. This series of interviews offers a quick glimpse into their experiences and what they’ve learned through being part of the ensemble as they rehearse for Swallows & Amazons.
What’s something you love about the story of Swallows and Amazons?
Lucy: I love the ensemble characters, how they represent the past islanders and how they are integrated into the story.
Liz: I love how adventurous it is and how much the characters develop and bond over the story.
What is exciting about this production of it?
Lucy: The set is designed so that the items from Arthur Ransome’s shed are used to create the island.
Liz: The Ensemble help create and bring to life the world of Arthur’s story that the children get to explore.
Tell us about your character.
Lucy: I am playing Tatty (one of the Walker children (aka the Swallows)) and she is energetic, curious and determined to be heard.
Liz: I play Susan (another Walker sibling!), who is sensible and organised, and would do anything for her siblings.
