Outreach News December 2010

December is one of our favourite months, as we welcome hundreds of children each day to the theatre for our swashbuckling production of Treasure Island. So far the pirates are going down an absolute storm and if you’re one of the many schools visiting us, we do hope you enjoy your trip. We are also giving several backstage tours this month to brownie, scouts and girl guide groups, who get a sneaky peak at what goes on behind the scenes in the theatre.

Meanwhile, filming of The Snow Queen with the children of St John’s Infant School in Mortimer has gone brilliantly – do have a look at Rebecca’s blog on this website to find out what happens when actors eat too much tissue paper!

Elsewhere we are continuing our programme of workshops with the Vodafone Speakers Association, and we welcomed Junior Youth Theatre parents into the theatre for a Christmas-themed demonstration this weekend. It’s lovely to meet the parents and show them what the Junior Youth Theatre have been up to this term. We’re also busy welcoming local professional actors to the Actors Forum, which now meets monthly. If you’re an actor interested in getting together with a group of like-minded people for support, events, and workshops, do have a look at our Actors’ Forum page, http://www.watermill.org.uk/actors_forum.html .

Wishing a very happy Christmas to you all,

Beth
