About Christmas Comedy at the Watermill with Marcus Brigstocke

A very special festive night of comedy with headliner Marcus Brigstocke!

Plus Pierre Hollins, Joseph Parsons and hosted by Maureen Younger!

Headlined by Marcus Brigstocke, a major British comedy talent as writer, actor, presenter, and performer!  It’s said he is heard on Radio 4 more frequently than the shipping forecast.

On television Marcus launched The Late Edition, the late night BBC4 answer to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. He has hosted and appeared as a panellist on Have I Got News for You. He has also been on Steph’s Packed Lunch, House of Games, The Graham Norton Show and was a team captain on Argumental.

Marcus was the host of I’ve Never Seen Star Wars on both radio and TV, a regular on panel shows from QI to Just a Minute, and has even cropped up on Question Time, Newsnight, and This Week. In The Joy of Techs he met his friend Alexis Conran’s enthusiasm for the latest gadgets with his own tech-scepticism.

BBC Radio 4 has become somewhat of a second home to Marcus with regular appearances on I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue, The Now Show, and Just A Minute. He has written and recorded three series and four specials of his hit show Giles Wemmbley-Hogg Goes Off, and co-starred alongside Kerry Godliman, in three series of The Wilsons Save The World.

A fixture at the Edinburgh Fringe, Marcus’ live performances sell out across the country. On the big screen he has appeared in Love Actually, Piccadilly Jim, Telstar: The Joe Meek Story, and Beyond the Sea. He played King Arthur in the hit Monty Python musical Spamalot. His book God Collar, based on his award-winning Edinburgh and West End show, focused on the 'God-shaped hole' that opened up in his life following the death of his best friend, and explored his issues surrounding faith.

Opening the show is Pierre Hollins! Pierre has been an audience favourite on the comedy circuit for many years. In the early days he worked as a support act to Lenny Henry and Rory Bremner, appeared in the West End with Rita Rudner and toured with The Flying Pickets and Willie Rushton & Barry Cryer.

His laid back joyful delivery is second to none, and it is common knowledge that he is the envy of a lot of his fellow peers. Using his guitar to deliver a host of clever jokes that rhyme, it’s easy to see why Pierre has been at the top of the game for so many years. He covers topics from love and hate, to sex and politics with a totally original voice, delivering his material with great charm.

Pierre describes himself as ”far-fetched and slightly dangerous”, seeing really is believing as he headlines all the major UK comedy clubs and has performed as far afield as Europe, the Middle East and Asia. His TV credits include Saturday Night Live (Channel 4), Hugh & Laurie (BBC) and Jerry Sadovitz Show (Channel 5).

Plus Joseph Parsons! Joseph is a comedian, writer and presenter based in London. His high-energy brand of stand up comedy has  seen him shortlisted for 2022’s BBC New Comedy Award. He's also featured on BBC’s LGBT Sports podcast and Talksport.
