JIMMY MCGHIE
Opening the show is the brilliant Jimmy McGhie! Jimmy was an Assistant Producer for the BBC’s Science and History Dept, having spent seven years working in factual television before he ran off to join the stand up comedy circus professionally in 2009. Since then he has performed stand up all over the world and appeared on numerous television and radio programmes including the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, Comedy Central, ABC Australia, THREE New Zealand, Absolute Radio and many more.
“A brilliant talent” (The Scotsman) and with “an easy charm and appealing relaxed manner” (Chortle), Jimmy has performed 10 solo shows at festivals around the world including the Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Sydney Comedy Festival, Perth Comedy Festival and New Zealand International Comedy festival. He is now a top circuit act in the UK, as well as a highly sought after corporate awards host and TV warm up artist. He regularly provides the studio warm up for BBC1’s Graham Norton Show, ITV’s Loose Women and Ch4’s Deal or No Deal. He is a regular performer at ‘Ricky Gervais and Friends’ live stand up shows with comedian Ricky Gervais and appeared in numerous comedy sketches with Gervais for Ricky's ‘Dutch Barn’ vodka company.
JULIAN DEANE
Julian Deane has been wowing audiences across the country with his genius punch lines and perfect delivery. Julian was recently seen performing on The Russell Howard Hour and supporting Paul Chowdhry on the mammoth nationwide tour Live Innit.
His witty writing skills have also been put to use on Matt Forde’s Unspun (Dave Channel), which he wrote on in 2016. Having first performed stand up in 2005, Julian’s brilliant, utterly original and hilarious routines have earned him appreciation, recognition and praise from audiences across the country as well as prominent figures in the comedy industry. Furthermore, he has proved his talent by winning some of the most prestigious stand-up comedy competitions in the country and is also in big demand as a writer (Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Morgan Spurlock’s New Britannia).
In late 2018, Julian and fellow comedian Carl Donnelly started the podcast Two Vegan Idiots which is soon to be followed by live dates across the UK. All of this makes him a terrific act with a hugely exciting future ahead of him.
TOM TOAL
Tom Toal is a comedian, writer and actor, hailing from the South East London town of Bexleyheath. One of comedy's rising stars he performed his debut show On The Scrapheap about the break-up of his 6 year relationship at the Edinburgh and Leicester Festivals in 2010 achieving widespread acclaim and reviews. The follow up Rom-Coms and Revolutions followed in similar vein playing to a complete sell out audience for the full run. In 2013 Tom Toal performed at The Comedy Reserve with The Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and in 2014 TT became an Amused Moose Best Comedy Show finalist for his solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Prequel. In March 2017, he opened gigs for Rob Brydon for some of Rob's tour across the country.
One of Tom's major strengths is his ability to adapt to his audience. Having hosted a range of events from Post Rock Bands album launch to benefit nights for the Socialist Workers Party, Tom has no trouble changing his style to suit the audience, whether it be Stag/Hen weekends, art centre events or corporate crowds.
