We spoke to the cast of Swallows & Amazons, our Youth Ensemble.
We love to hear directly from the young performers bringing fresh energy and creativity to the stage. This series of interviews offers a quick glimpse into their experiences and what they’ve learned through being part of the ensemble as they rehearse for Swallows & Amazons.
What’s it like being in the Watermill Youth Ensemble?
Millie: It is an absolutely wonderful experience to work with so many talented other young people.
Libby: It’s lovely to build a community with other people my age. I always look forward to what our next step is!
Maya: Being in the youth ensemble is such a productive, amazing experience.
Is there anything particular that you feel like you’ve learnt during this process?
Libby: I’ve definitely felt way more confident since I began the Youth Ensemble. I love having a world outside of my life.
Millie: I’ve learnt how to act with many different people and connect with them on a new level.
Maya: I have learnt how to act bigger and better! It’s been so helpful and enjoyable.
What’s a moment of Swallows & Amazons that you’re excited to perform?
Maya: I’m excited for the last scene of the play when we all join together and finish the play as a group!
Millie: I’m also incredibly excited to perform the scene to close the show, it’s a very heartwarming moment to be all together on stage!
Libby: I love how the last moments of Swallows & Amazons are sweet and warming.
