As the Love On The Track Tour draws to a close, writer and actor, Richard Attlee, reflects

We are now nearing the end of our rural tour and it has been quite some adventure. Without a doubt the most full-on touring I have done: 26 different venues spread over half a dozen counties – one night it’s a village hall, the next an arts centre or small theatre.

Tonight we are in Chipping Norton which I have played before many years ago. It’s a very sweet, charming little theatre nestled in the Cotswold countryside. As I write this Jo (our Stage Manager) and I are sat in the Fox Hotel awaiting our full english breakfasts prior to ‘getting in’. Ah, healthy living, can’t beat it!

We have just three shows to go now and I think we all have mixed feelings about finishing. The reponse to the show has been fantastic, better than anything I could have expected, but our bodies are begging for the sweet release from putting up the stage and shunting stands and lights around. We have decided that some fiendish little fellas called ‘The Outreach Pixies’ visit our rooms in the night, pummel us all over with tiny pick-axes and then scarper as dawn breaks!

But seriously, it has been an amazing experience. All our hosts at every venue have been hugely supportive and welcoming and, as I say, the response has been fantastic. Here’s to the world tour!!
