The Watermill Theatre welcomes you to join monthly drama workshops for adults who, for whatever reason, could use a change of scene.
When did you last play?
Drama lends itself to supporting well-being for the opportunity it offers to just play! Through play we make sense of the world around us, thinking ourselves into unusual, surprising and puzzling circumstances, and thinking ourselves out of them.
How do actors deal with stage fright, anxiety and pressure?
How do they control the messages we all send out to the people around us?
Scene Change will explore some of the material and exercises that actors and directors use when training and performing. As we listen, laugh, and learn, your skills and confidence will build within a supportive and encouraging group.
Being a stand-alone session, there is no obligation to come every time, but for those who attend regularly, topics will vary month to month.
Whatever your yesterday, you can leave your everyday at the door to express yourself, stretch your imagination, and relax with fellow Scene Changers.
This is what one Scene Changer says:
I thoroughly enjoy these monthly sessions with Lixi and her helpers at The Watermill Theatre. I really look forward to the hour and a half that I can just switch off from the outside world, and concentrate on using the fun part of my mind, instead of constantly wearing my serious head! The sessions are relaxing, but fun, and there is no pressure to be something you are not if you are not comfortable with it. Lixi has a lovely way of moulding the group and bringing together all the different personalities, so that they can get the best out of the session. There is much to be gained each month from the change of faces who attend, and you become at ease so quickly with those that you are interacting with, almost as if they are long lost friends. As a group we are well looked after, and Lixi always arranges refreshments!
Wednesday 1 July
Time: 1pm - 2.30pm

For many of us, trying something new, with new people, in a new place, can be daunting. Our familiarisation visits are a chance to meet Louise, the group facilitator, and have a short tour of the theatre and facilities with her.
We will hold a tour at 12.30pm before every monthly session at The Watermill, after which you are welcome to stay for the workshop or carry on with your day.
If you would like to join a tour, please contact Louise Best, Community Associate at The Watermill. Reach her on 01635 570918 (voice), 07470 114826 (voice/text) or email@example.com
We look forward to meeting you soon!
